Giant Moas will normally rest at coastal regions on the beach or just go to shrublands and greater barriers. On the south and north island of Aotearoa, they also go to Subalpine Areas around 1800 meters above sea level.
In their Habitat they were an easy target for hunters to kill with spears and traps, most of the hunters are Maori because the first known as the archaic or moa hunter with polynesians made their first ever contact with the moa.The huge Moa only ever had one enimie on their habitat called the Haast Eagle that would swoop down and try and hurt or kill them.
Giant Moa’s love to eat everything like shrubs, berry’s,sticks, leaves and flowers. Maori people and polynesians would kill them, so they could eat their flesh then give the feathers and skin to clothes makers to make coats and other things, Giant Moas were an easy target to kill and eat because the Moas highet is 3.7 meters (and 12ft tall) they also did weigh up to 230kg’s.
Due to the lack of mammalian predators, birds in New Zealand are involved in a unique manner. Birds such as the moa are involved in the largest flightless bird – a role normally reserved for males. Moa’s were hunted by the Maori, English and Polynesians until extinctcion.
